A little clarity. More room to focus.
Understand your space, what gets saved, and how FocuNest keeps personal work separate from shared work.
Your space, your way
The building blocks of your focus studio.
A space brings together a scene, a focus timer and optional widgets. Add tasks, a Scratchpad whiteboard or sticky notes when you need them. Music and ambient sounds help set the atmosphere.
A preset saves a reusable setup: layout, focus method and widget appearance. It does not copy your task text, drawings, sticky-note images or audio files. Applying a preset preserves your existing personal work.
Saving & your data
Know what stays on this device and what follows your account.
Guest spaces, notes and focus history stay in this browser on this device. Clearing browser data can remove them. Signing in does not automatically move guest work into your account; adopt it explicitly when you want to keep it there.
Account spaces and personal work save through the FocuNest API. Local drafts help retain changes when a connection fails. If a conflict appears, review the available versions before choosing which to keep.
Personal music queues, imported audio, goals and notification preferences stay on this device. Account presets sync privately; guest presets and active break clocks remain local.
Focus sessions & progress
What the timer and your statistics actually count.
A focus session has its own start, pause, resume and finish state. Paused time and breaks do not count as active focus. Changing the focus method affects the next session, not one already running.
Analytics use saved completed or ended sessions. A streak day needs at least one minute of active focus, using your selected timezone. Personal tasks count once through their first saved completed session outcome.
The room timer is counted once. Other room members do not automatically receive personal focus minutes. Goals are optional and never change these counting rules.
Rooms & permissions
Focus together while keeping personal work personal.
An invitation starts a signed-in join request. The host approves members and controls the shared timer. Viewers can read shared work and use chat; editors can change only the components the host permits.
Sharing a component and allowing someone to edit it are separate settings. Personal tasks and notes remain separate from room work. Each listener enables shared audio on their own device.
Closing or expiry makes room work and analytics read-only for approved members. Chat clears when the room ends. A host can hide a room from members by deleting it; stored work is retained.
Templates & publishing
Share a fixed copy, with the content you choose.
A publication points to a fixed version. Later edits to your space or room do not change it. Public templates appear in Explore; unlisted templates are available to anyone with their link.
For room templates, the host chooses the content and media to share. Content starts unchecked. Review the preview and include other people’s contributions only with permission. Membership, chat and analytics are excluded.
Use creates an independent space. Remix requires the creator’s permission and keeps attribution. Unpublishing stops new access but does not erase existing copies. Deleting a room does not unpublish its templates.
Accounts, privacy & AI
Your choices control access and sharing.
Email and password sign-in is built in. Save your recovery code privately: it is shown once and used for account recovery. Google sign-in is optional and only available when configured.
Cloud AI receives selected context only after you consent. Review a proposal before applying it. Local-only mode uses the Ollama bridge on your computer and never silently falls back to the cloud.
Private notes, drawings and images are not automatically published or sent to AI. Public room discovery, video calls and persistent room chat are not part of this release.
